Santi Cazorla is a Spanish football player who became an essential member of Arsenal. Fans often rank him as one of Europe’s top midfielders. Cazorla was instrumental in ending Arsenal’s nine-year trophy drought, providing thirteen assists in his debut year with the club. Cazorla’s Arsenal teammate Aaron Ramsey recently discussed him.
Aaron Ramsey on Santi Cazorla
He won the best Arsenal player of the year and scored a very exciting free kick in the 2014 FA Cup Final, saving the day for the Gunners. Arsenal ended up winning 3-2 against Hull City. He played 81 times for Spain and scored 15 goals. Cazorla’s contract with Arsenal ended in May 2018.
Injuries were a big problem for Cazorla throughout his football career. He played with a broken bone in a game between Spain and Chile in 2013. In 2016, he had surgery on his injured ankle, but it got infected, making his recovery harder. Sadly, this became a common issue for Cazorla, with many reopened wounds, gangrene, and bacterial infections. One infection even damaged his Achilles tendon and bone, putting his leg at risk. Overall, he had 10 surgeries, including one where they took skin from his left forearm, removing a tattoo dedicated to his daughter India.
Aaron Ramsey who played with Cazorla recently praised him in an interview with England365.
“I had so many great team-mates over the years at Arsenal. Kieran Gibbs, Theo Walcott, Per Mertesacker, Koscielny, Santi, Nacho Monreal. However, Santi Cazorla was the most difficult to train. He was a pleasure to play with. So talented, he could use both legs equally and get out of any difficult situation. He was a great team player and enjoyed every minute he was on the pitch,” Ramsey said.
