Mathieu Bodmer, the sporting director for the French club Le Havre, talked about Chelsea and how they treated Malang Sarr. Sarr, who is a defender, isn’t very active with Chelsea’s squad. It appeared that Chelsea had agreed to terminate Sarr’s contract so that he could join Le Havre before the player transfer deadline this week. However, Bodmer believes Chelsea may have changed their thoughts regarding the transfer.
Mathieu Bodmer criticizes Chelsea for poor treatment of Malang Sarr
Mathieu Bodmer criticized Chelsea for not communicating well about Malang Sarr’s unsuccessful move to the new Ligue 1 team. Earlier, on the last day of the winter transfer window, Foot Mercato said Le Havre wanted to get Sarr from Stamford Bridge. But in the end, they couldn’t make a permanent deal happen before the window closed. Now, Bodmer explained why Le Havre couldn’t sign Sarr earlier this month.
“What Chelsea did to Malang Sarr was disgraceful. With just a few details still to be worked out, they did a U-turn. They gave the youngster the go-ahead to travel, and a financial agreement had been reached for the 18 months of his remaining contract,” Bodmer said to Paris Normandie.
“However, on several occasions, they went back on their agreement, and then gave it again. And once the player had agreed to make a big effort, to come to us on a tiny salary, just to play football, they blocked him. Everything was okay, the contract had even been submitted to the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP), but we never received Chelsea’s cancellation. In the end, they just told him he wouldn’t be leaving and they didn’t even answer the phone any more,” he added.

Sarr joined Chelsea from OGC Nice for free in 2020, but he hasn’t played for the team at all this season. The 25-year-old defender last played for AS Monaco in March, during his loan there, in a 1-0 loss to Stade de Reims.
