In a recent print edition, Corriere dello Sport stated that Tottenham Hotspur are showing interest in Juventus ace Adrien Rabiot. It has been mentioned that Spurs could face competition in the form of Arsenal and Liverpool in the race to land the French midfielder in the summer.
Rabiot’s Decent Numbers In Serie A This Season
Rabiot has proved himself to be a valuable presence in Juve’s match-day squad this season after putting in a string of impressive performances for them in the middle of the park. The 28-year-old has found the back of the net on four occasions and earned three assists in 22 matches for the Italian club this season across all fronts.
The France international has been a positive influence in both halves as he is averaging 2.0 tackles, 0.9 interceptions, 1.0 clearances, 1.4 shots, 1.0 key passes and 1.1 dribbles per game in Serie A football. He has even been accurate with his ball distribution after making 84.8% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Turin club will expire at the end of this campaign which could open the door for Spurs to sign him on a free transfer in the summer.
What Will Rabiot Bring To Tottenham Hotspur?
Rabiot is a tough-tackling midfielder who can time his challenges well to make some timely interceptions for his team at the centre of the park. He usually puts his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the offensive.
The French sensation can strike the ball with power from long range and has got the eye to play a few decisive passes in the opponent’s half. He can also make a handful of energetic runs with the ball from midfield.
Rabiot is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also serve as a defensive midfielder or as a left-sided wide player if required. We can expect him to bring more quality and depth to Tottenham head coach Angelos Postecoglu’s midfield department. He has what it takes to help the North London club compete for a top-four finish in the Premier League.
At 28, Rabiot is entering his prime and is on an expiring contract which makes him a worthy target for Spurs to pursue in the summer.
