In a recent report, Türkiye Gazetesi mentioned that Tottenham Hotspur are in the running to sign Besiktas forward Semih Kilicsoy. It has been revealed that Spurs could face competition in the form of Borussia Dortmund in the race to land the Turkish striker.
Kilicsoy’s Impressive Run Of Form In Turkish Football
Kilicsoy has put in a run of impressive displays as the focal point of Besiktas’ attack. The 18-year-old has found the back of the net eight times and picked up one assist in 21 matches for the Turkish outfit this season across all competitions.
The Istanbul-born talent has led the line well for the Turkish outfit and deserves credit for averaging 2.5 shots and 1.3 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Turkish Super Lig. However, he needs to improve his link-up play on the offensive end of the field based on his pass success rate of 72.4% in the Turkish top tier (stats via whoscored).
Kilicsoy is under contract at Besiktas until the summer of 2028. Therefore, Spurs will have to make a good offer if they are serious about winning the race for his services.
Tottenham Hotspur Are In The Running To Sign Kilicsoy: Is He A Prospect For The Future?
Kilicsoy excels at finding a yard of space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal and can make a few dangerous runs with the ball in the attacking end of the pitch. He mainly functions as a centre-forward but can also play as a winger on either flank if told to do so.
We can expect Kilicsoy to add more quality to Tottenham’s attack in the long run. At 18, he has the potential to become a future star in European football as long as he continues to develop with each season.
There is no doubt that Kilicsoy is a prospect to watch out for in the coming seasons. Hence, he would be a great, long-term signing for Spurs boss Angelos Postecoglu as he is good enough to serve as an ideal understudy to Heung-min Son and Richarlison at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. However, only time will tell whether Kilicsoy will be able to adapt to the physical side and high intensity of Premier League football.
