Robin van Persie returned to Manchester United’s training facility this week. He had dinner with United coach Erik ten Hag after their 3-0 victory against West Ham on Sunday. A few days later, the squad welcomed him back after nearly nine years away.
Robin van Persie spotted at Manchester United’s training
Robin van Persie is at Manchester United’s training ground this week to finish a part of his coaching license. United let their old striker come back, so he can watch training with Erik ten Hag and talk to the staff. Van Persie, who has been a coach at Feyenoord since 2020, is doing the last part of his qualifications to become a manager.
People doing the coaching course with the Dutch FA must learn both in their own country and at a foreign club. Van Persie asked to visit United, and Ten Hag said yes. Van Persie will be at Carrington until Thursday. Besides watching the first-team training, he will also work with Ten Hag, assistant Mitchell van der Gaag, and football director John Murtough. Two other coaches from the Netherlands doing the course are also there with him.

The 40-year-old went to Old Trafford on Sunday when United won 3-0 against West Ham. He was seen meeting Sir Alex Ferguson, who brought him from Arsenal in 2012. Van Persie played at Arsenal for eight years, scoring 132 goals in 278 games, making him eighth on the club’s list of all-time scorers. But he made a big change to United after Ferguson talked to Arsene Wenger to make a deal. Arsenal decided not to give Van Persie a new contract.
Van Persie played a big part in United winning the title in his first and only season under Ferguson, who retired after the 2012-13 season. He scored 58 goals in 105 games for United before going to Fenerbahce in 2015. He then went back to his childhood club Feyenoord in 2017 and retired two years later.
