The day after Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s minority ownership of Manchester United was confirmed, he talked with reporters at the Ineos office in Knightsbridge. Ratcliffe, aged 71, spent an hour chatting with reporters about various United-related topics. He talked about plans for Old Trafford, changes at the club, Newcastle’s actions regarding Dan Ashworth, what might happen to Mason Greenwood, competition from Sheikh Jassim, and his goal to surpass Manchester City. The billionaire from Failsworth also explained why, as a lifelong United supporter, he briefly considered buying Chelsea, where he once had a season ticket. Here is the full conversation between Ratcliffe and the reporters.

The 71-year-old has shared his plan to change the club completely, not just on the field. He talked about improving all aspects, including the club’s facilities. In an interview recently, Ratcliffe said Manchester United‘s museum is “cr*p” and their club shop is too small for such a big club.

Ratcliffe also said Manchester United’s setup is old-fashioned and there’s something important missing. He wants to change things to make the club great again.

“I think in broad terms, refurb is one [billion] and a new stadium. I mean, both of these would include the campus. So you know the museum’s cr*p and all that sort of stuff and the shop is too small and all that so, you know, you’d have the Xbox thing for entertaining the fans, away games. So in other words, the fans could come there and do some stuff. So include the campus in both cases, in very simple terms you are talking about one versus two [billion],” Ratcliffe said.

As per reports, Ratcliffe’s statements have angered the Glazers.

The Glazers will want Sir Jim Ratcliffe to provide an explanation for his remarks.
