Fabrizio Romano recently revealed the latest developments at Chelsea. He told CaughtOffside that he hasn’t been told for certain, but some of Chelsea’s recent players may be unhappy with the lengthy contracts they signed when they joined the club.
Fabrizio Romano on Chelsea
This year has been tough for Chelsea. Romano thinks it’s common to hear lots of talk and negativity when big teams aren’t doing well. He mentioned Thiago Silva might leave when his contract ends, but there aren’t clear plans for some of the new players with long contracts.
Yesterday, there was news that Enzo Fernandez, who used to hold the record for the highest signing fee, might be thinking about leaving the club after being there for a bit over a year. It’s known that he and other new players signed long contracts to split the fee over time. But Romano says he hasn’t heard of anyone wanting to leave right now.
“There have also been reports about other Chelsea players being unsettled and some claims that they regret signing such long-term contracts at the club. However, I’m not aware of this, honestly. I think this week it’s easy to say only negative things about Chelsea, players, managers, owners,” Romano said.
“For sure it’s a difficult moment but it’s also too easy to call it all negative and disaster. How can players be happy when things go so bad? But it’s also about being professional to help the club and improve the situation. This is normal life at top football clubs,” he added.

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is under a lot of pressure. People are saying the board doesn’t know what to do with him. It seems like Pochettino might have a chance to prove himself in the EFL Cup final against Liverpool. If he wins against Jurgen Klopp, it would be his first trophy in English football and could help save his career.
