Here are the latest Scottish Premiership transfer rumours of the day as on 1.2.2024.
James Forrest could leave Celtic
James Forrest, who has been with Celtic for a long time, might leave the team on Deadline Day. This could happen because Mikey Johnston is getting closer to joining West Brom. According to TalkSPORT, Forrest, who has been with the club for a long time might leave soon.
The 34-year-old hasn’t been playing regularly since Brendan Rodgers returned. He has only played 18 times this season, mostly sporadically. Now, the club are willing to consider offers for him, and he could leave Celtic even though he still has 18 months left on his contract. Forrest has won 22 big trophies with Celtic, but now there’s talk of him leaving, especially as Marco Tilio recently left for a loan return to Melbourne. Mikey Johnston is on his way to West Brom for a medical.
Jefte won’t be joining Rangers this window
Jefte won’t be joining Rangers this month, but they have an agreement to sign him in the summer. The Brazilian left back was supposed to join in January only, along with Fabio Silva and Mohamed Diomande, as part of the changes made by Philippe Clement to the team he took over from Michael Beale.
Jefte was playing on loan at APOEL Nicosia in Cyprus, and it seemed like a deal was about to happen. However, APOEL didn’t sanction breaking the loan deal. But Rangers have a verbal agreement to sign him in the summer.
Callan McKenna to leave Queen’s Park
Callan McKenna, the Queen’s Park goalkeeper, is close to choosing to join one of three Premier League clubs before the transfer deadline. According to various reports, Manchester United are leading in the race to sign the young Scotland player.
Queen’s Park, a Scottish Championship club, are likely to receive £350,000 for the transfer. There may be additional payments based on McKenna’s progress in the first team and earning international caps. This could raise the total financial deal to over £1 million, and Queen’s Park may also get a sell-on if McKenna is sold to another team in the future.
Layvin Kurzawa could join Celtic
Celtic’s Brendan Rodgers is considering Layvin Kurzawa as a left-back option on deadline day. Rodgers already got his desired striker, Adam Odah, on loan from Norwich City. Now, he’s looking for a full-back to strengthen the defense.
With Greg Taylor injured, the only experienced choice is Alexandro Bernabei. Rodgers is exploring several options to fill the position before Thursday’s deadline. Kurzawa’s wages is going to be an issue for Celtic though.
David Carson joins Livingston
David Carson has moved to Livingston from Inverness on a permanent contract. The midfielder did well in the Championship, and now he gets a chance to play in the Scottish Premiership. He’s joining David Martindale’s team when they are fighting to stay in the Scottish Premiership and currently sitting at the bottom of the table.
