In a recent report, Marca mentioned that Real Madrid have identified Lille ace Leny Yoro as a target. It has been stated that Los Blancos are showing interest in recruiting the French centre-back.
Yoro’s Decent Run Of Form In French Football
Yoro has enjoyed a solid campaign at the French club after he put in a series of impressive displays at the heart of their defence. The 18-year-old has found the back of the net three times in 26 matches for Lille this season on all fronts.
The French sensation has been a rock at the back and deserves some credit for averaging 1.3 tackles, 1.5 interceptions and 3.2 clearances per 90 minutes in Ligue 1. He has even been excellent when distributing possession from inside his half after completing 91.6% of his attempted passes in the top tier of French football (stats via whoscored).
Yoro is under contract at Lille until the summer of 2025 which could open the door for Los Blancos to sign him on the cheap at the end of this season. However, he is still quite raw and would need time to adapt to life at the Madrid club.
What Will Yoro Bring To Real Madrid?
Yoro is a good tackler of the ball and can read the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind clearing his lines when the opposition are on the offensive and is even proficient at playing his way out from inside his half.
Standing at 1.90m, the French sensation can even use his strong frame to dominate the opposition in the air. At 18, he has the potential to become a world-class player in his position someday. Hence, Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti would be wise to get a deal done for him in the summer as long as he can get him for the right price.
Yoro is already good enough to bring more bite and steel to Los Blancos‘ defence. He has what it takes to help the Madrid club challenge for some major honours over the next decade. However, Ancelotti would have to be patient with his progress if he wants to unlock the best out of him at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in the long run.
