The summer transfer window will be exciting for Real Madrid and their fans as superstar Kylian Mbappe is all set to arrive. However, they don’t wish to stop there as the club is keen on hiring the services of PSG defender Achraf Hakimi, according to Sports Zone.
The Spanish club wants to reinforce their defensive unit and Hakimi is seen as a potential option. However, they may face tough competition from English club Manchester City, who are also interested in the acquisition of the Moroccan right-back.
Achraf Hakimi is a key performer
Achraf Hakimi is prominent in the football world today and regarded as one of the best right-backs in the game. PSG signed him from Serie A side Inter Milan in 2021 for a reported fee of €60 million. Since then, he has become a key player in their squad.
The 25-year-old has featured in 25 games for the French club this season, netting four goals and contributing five assists as well. He is averaging 2 tackles, 0.9 interceptions and 1 clearance per game with a passing accuracy of 87.2% (stats via whoscored).
Signing Achraf Hakimi will not be easy
Real Madrid’s interest in Achraf Hakimi is understandable as they want to find Dani Carvajal’s successor. The Spanish right-back is entering into the final stage of his professional career at the highest level. Hence, it becomes crucial for the club to groom a replacement to ensure smooth functioning.
Reportedly, Hakimi also wants to leave PSG as he wants to fight for the biggest titles. The Whites’ record of winning major trophies regularly might tempt him to join them. Moreover, he knows the club well as he was part of it before he decided to make a permanent move in search of game time.
The alleged arrival of Kylian Mbappe will also add to the positives as Hakimi is considered his best friend. However, Real Madrid will have to offer a lucrative deal for the defender as PSG doesn’t like selling their key players. The Paris club has no shortage of funds and would consider a deal only if mouth-watering money is offered.
