In a recent segment on Youtube, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed that Real Madrid are in pole position to land Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies. It has been claimed that Los Blancos are the favorites to sign the Canada international in the summer.
Davies’ Impressive Run Of Form In German Football
Davies has experienced a solid campaign at the Bavarian club after he put in a run of impressive displays on the left side of their defence. The Canadian sensation has scored one goal and picked up three assists in 27 appearances for Bayern this season on all fronts.
The 23-year-old has been a positive influence in both halves as he is averaging 1.9 tackles, 1.1 interceptions, 1.4 clearances, 1.5 key passes and 2.6 dribbles per 90 minutes in Bundesliga. Davies has even been tidy with his ball distribution based on his pass completion rate of 89.5% in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Allianz Arena will expire in the summer of 2025 which could open the door for Real Madrid to secure his services on a cut-price deal at the end of this season.
Should Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti Get Davies On Board?
Davies is a tough-tackling full-back who can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the offensive and can make a few driving runs with the ball on the left flank.
The Canadian sensation can even engineer a few clear-cut chances for his teammates in the final third. He is primarily a left-back but can also function as a left-sided winger if asked to do so by his manager.
We can expect Davies to enhance the quality of Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti’s defensive department. He might even help the Madrid club challenge for some major trophies in the coming seasons.
Thus, it makes sense for Los Blancos to go all out to get the Bayern Munich talent on board when the transfer window commences later this year. At 23, he has his best years ahead of him which makes him a worthy target for Ancelotti to consider at the end of this campaign.
