In a recent report, Het Nieuwsblad mentioned that Newcastle United are still in the running for Club Brugge winger Antonio Nusa. It has been stated that the Magpies could face competition in the form of Tottenham Hotspur in pursuit of the Norwegian wide player in the summer.
Nusa’s Impressive Rise In Belgian Football
Nusa has enjoyed a meteoric rise at the Belgian club as he has managed to catch the eye with his performances on the left side of their attack. The 18-year-old has banged in four goals and picked up three assists in 28 matches for Club Brugge this season in various competitions.
The Norwegian teenager has been a consistent performer in the final third and has done well to average 1.7 shots, 1.1 key passes and 2.5 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Jupiler Pro League. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball from the wide areas after making 81.4% of his attempted passes in the Belgian top-flight (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Belgian club will expire in the summer of 2027. Hence, the Magpies would have to launch a big offer if they want to recruit Nusa at the end of this season.,
Should Newcastle United Boss Eddie Howe Get Nusa On Board?
Nusa can create some space for himself and can test the opposition keeper with his shot attempts. He has got the eye to play a few decisive passes in the final third and can make some intelligent runs with the ball out on the flanks.
The Norwegian talent is primarily a left-winger but can also play as a right-sided wide player or operate as a secondary striker if required. At 18, he has the potential to become a future star in European football.
Hence, Nusa would be an excellent, long-term signing for Newcastle to pull off next summer. He has what it takes to rival Anthony Gordon for a regular spot in Eddie Howe‘s first team. However, there are some concerns over whether the Norwegian talent can adapt to the physical nature and high intensity of Premier League football.
Still, the pros outweigh the cons of signing a youngster of Nusa’s potential. Thus, Howe should go all out to get him on board soon.
