In a recent report, The Chronicle stated that Newcastle United are showing interest in Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke. It has been claimed that the Magpies are eyeing a move to sign the English forward from the Cherries in the summer transfer window.
Solanke’s Impressive Record In English Football This Season
Solanke is having a great campaign at the English club as he has been responsible for producing a string of impressive displays for them in front of the opponent’s goal. The English talent has done well to score 16 goals and secure four assists in 29 matches for the Cherries this season across various competitions.
The 26-year-old has been a decent performer in the final third based on his average of 3.2 shots, 0.9 key passes and 1.1 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He has even distributed the ball relatively well in the opponent’s half after making 75.2% of his attempted passes in the English first division (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Bournemouth will run out in the summer of 2027. Hence, the Magpies would have to launch a convincing offer if they are serious about bringing him to St. James’ Park later this year.
What Will Solanke Bring To Newcastle United?
Solanke is proficient at finding a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He has proven himself to be a capable finisher in front of the opponent’s goal this season. The English sensation can even create some decent openings for others around him in the final third. He can also make some well-timed runs in behind the opposition backline.
At the moment, Solanke is playing some of the best football of his young career. Hence, it is only logical for Newcastle United to try and arrange a move for him at the end of this season.
At 26, Solanke is about to enter his prime soon which makes him a good option for the Magpies to pursue in the summer. We can expect him to bring more firepower to Eddie Howe’s frontline at St. James’ Park. Plus, he would offer some serious competition for Alexander Isak at the Tyneside club in the coming seasons.
