Manchester United have shown interest in multiple players as they look to strengthen their squad in the summer transfer window. According to Football Transfers, the club has identified AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders as a top priority for the next season.
Boss Erik Ten Hag has been impressed by the Dutch midfielder and wants to sign his services at any cost. However, the signing won’t be smooth as Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has also entered into the race and will look to finance it from the purse that is set to be freed up by the departure of Kylian Mbappe.
Tijjani Reijnders is a valuble pick
Tijjani Reijnders joined AC Milan last summer from Eredivisie side AZ Alkmaar for a reported fee of just €19m. Within no time, he won the faith of the group and became a vital part of the side. He has featured in 33 games for the Rossoneri this season so far.
In these many appearances, the 25-year-old footballer contributed two goals and three assists. He is averaging 1.3 tackles, 0.4 interceptions and 0.6 clearances per game. Apart from his defensive aspects, he is also equally good in the offensive role. He has an average of 1.4 shots, 1.1 key passes, and 1.1 dribbles per game alongside a high passing percentage rate of 91.4 (stats via whoscored).
Manchester United need versatile midfielders
The Red Devils’ interest in Tijjani Reijnders is understandable as they have a pretty mature midfield in the likes of Sofyan Amrabat, Scott McTominay, Casemiro, and Christian Eriksen. While a few are nearing the end of their career, there is uncertainty over the future of few others.
Reijnders has played as a defensive, central and attacking midfielder and excelled in all the roles. His versatility and consistency make him a valuable pick for any side. Hence, his arrival will add much-needed depth to Manchester United‘s squad.
However, AC Milan won’t let him leave the club so early after having joined them just last summer. Reportedly, the acquisition will cost more than €60m.
