In a recent report, Le10Sport claimed that Manchester City star Bernardo Silva is on the radar of Paris Saint-Germain. It is understood that the French giants are planning to sign the Portuguese winger from the Mancunian club in the summer.
Silva’s Impressive Form In English Football This Season
Silva is having another impressive season at the Etihad Stadium after producing a handful of productive displays for Man City in the opponent’s half. The Portuguese sensation has scored eight goals and grabbed four assists in 30 matches for Pep Guardiola‘s side during this campaign across various competitions.
The 29-year-old has performed well in the final third by averaging 1.8 tackles, 1.2 shots, 1.8 key passes and 1.0 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He has even been excellent with his ball distribution as he has completed 89.7% of his attempted passes in the English first division (stats via whoscored).
Silva’s current deal at Man City will run out in the summer of 2026. Thus, Guardiola is under no immediate pressure to cash in on him in the summer.
Can Manchester City Boss Pep Guardiola Afford To Lose Silva?
Silva is full of energy and running in the opponent’s half. He has got the pace to cause a lot of headaches for his marker out on the flanks. The Portuguese sensation has got the vision to create some decent plays for others around him in the final third. He can even strike the ball with venom from long range.
At the moment, Silva is playing at a high level and remains one of the first names in Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola’s teamsheet. Hence, his potential departure would be a massive loss for the Mancunian club in the summer.
At 29, Silva is still playing in his prime and could help the English club compete for a few more major honours over the next couple of seasons. All in all, Guardiola simply cannot afford to lose a player of his quality without bringing in a quality replacement. Man City would be better off keeping hold of the Portugal international for the duration of his current contract as he is still a valuable asset in Man City’s starting XI.
