In a recent report, Fichajes claimed that Manchester City are keeping a keen eye on AC Milan winger Rafael Leao. It has been stated that Pep Guardiola’s side are willing to pay €100m for the Portuguese wide player in the summer.
Leao’s Impressive Numbers In Italian Football
The 24-year-old has produced a series of eye-catching displays for AC Milan on the offensive end of the field. Leao has scored seven times and picked up eight assists in 30 appearances for the Italian outfit this season in multiple competitions.
The Portuguese sensation has been a decent performer in the final third as he is averaging 1.9 shots, 1.7 key passes and 1.9 dribbles per game in Serie A. He has even been tidy when distributing possession from the wide areas based on his pass completion rate of 78.7% in the Italian top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Italian club will expire in the summer of 2028 which would make it difficult for Man City to sign him on the cheap later this year.
Is Leao A Decent Fit For Manchester City?
Leao is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few driving runs with the ball out on the flanks. He has got the eye to play a few decisive passes in the final third and can shoot the ball with venom from all ranges.
The Portugal international can chip in by scoring and creating his fair share of goals up top. He mainly functions as a left-sided wide player but can also operate as a centre-forward if told to do so.
Leao would add more pace and goals to Man City head coach Pep Guardiola‘s frontline. He is good enough to fight for a regular starting spot at the Etihad Stadium in the coming seasons.
At 24, Leao will only get better with each season. Thus, he would be a great fit for the Mancunian club‘s needs in the long run. However, there are some question marks over whether he can cope with the physical side and high intensity of Premier League football if Guardiola manages to get him on board in the summer transfer window.
