In a recent print edition, Sport claimed that Liverpool are showing interest in Bayern Munich star Leroy Sane. It has been mentioned that the Reds could face competition in the form of Barcelona in the race to recruit the Germany international.
Sane’s Impressive Numbers In Bundesliga
Sane is having another productive campaign at the Bavarian club after putting in a series of productive displays on the right side of their attack. The 28-year-old has scored nine goals and picked up 11 assists in 29 appearances for Bayern this season across all fronts.
The Essen-born talent has been a good performer in the final third as he is averaging 3.1 shots, 3.2 key passes and 3.8 dribbles per 90 minutes in Bundesliga. He has even been accurate when distributing possession in the opponent’s half after completing 84.6% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
Sane’s current contract at the German club will run out in the summer of 2025 which could open the door for the Reds to snap him up on the cheap at the end of this campaign.
Is Sane A Dream Option For Liverpool?
Sane has got the pace to cause a lot of chaos for his marker out in the wide areas. He can make a few dangerous runs with the ball and has got the vision to engineer a few inviting chances for his teammates in the final third. The German sensation can shoot the ball with power and precision from long range. He is primarily a right-winger but can also play as a left-sided wide player or operate in the number ten position if told to do so.
We can expect Sane to bring plenty of firepower to Liverpool‘s frontline. He is good enough to serve as a decent replacement for Mohamed Salah if the Reds end up parting ways with their star winger next summer.
At 28, Sane is playing in his prime at the moment and is well-equipped to make an instant impact at Anfield. He already knows the Premier League well from his time at Manchester City and won’t take much time to settle into life at the Merseyside club. Hence, Liverpool would be wise to try everything they can to lure him back to England in the summer transfer window.
