In a recent report, Fichajes stated that Liverpool are keeping a keen eye on Borussia Dortmund ace Donyell Malen. It has been claimed that the Reds are eyeing a move to bring the Dutch winger to Merseyside in the summer.
Malen’s Impressive Form In Bundesliga This Season
Malen has enjoyed a decent campaign in German football after putting in a series of impressive performances on the right side of Dortmund’s frontline. The 25-year-old has netted ten goals and grabbed three assists in 28 matches for the German outfit this season in multiple competitions.
The Dutch talent has given a good account of himself by averaging 2.6 shots, 0.9 key passes and 1.7 dribbles per game in the Bundesliga. He has also been excellent when distributing the ball in the final third based on his pass completion rate of 79.7% in the German top flight (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Signal Iduna Park will run out in the summer of 2026. Hence, the Reds would have to launch a convincing offer if they want to seal a move for Malen in the summer transfer window.
What Will Malen Bring To Liverpool?
Malen is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make some dangerous runs with the ball in the opponent’s half. He can strike the ball with power from long range and can set up a few promising chances for his teammates in the final third.
The Dutch sensation is primarily a right-sided wide player but can also operate as a left-winger or play as a centre-forward if told to do so by his manager. He would no doubt enhance the quality of Liverpool‘s squad and might even serve as an ideal, long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah due to his versatility to play in multiple positions across the frontline.
At 25, Malen has his best years ahead of him which makes him a good fit for Liverpool in the long run. He would bring more goals and creativity to the Merseyside club‘s attacking department.
Malen might even help the Reds challenge for some major honours over the next few years if he can make a smooth transition to life in Premier League football.
