In a recent interview with Give Me Sport, journalist Paul Brown claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are showing interest in Bournemouth forward Dominic Solanke.
Brown said, “They’ve also expressed an interest in Dominic Solanke, I think the valuation on both of those players is way more than Spurs would be intending to pay. So, whether they could pull either of those two off is doubtful, but it wouldn’t surprise me if you saw bids made for one or both of those players before the window shuts. I just think it’s unlikely that Spurs get near the asking price for either.”
Solanke’s Impressive Form In Premier League Football This Season
Solanke has enjoyed a brilliant campaign at the Vitality Stadium as he has been responsible for producing a string of productive displays for the Cherries in the final third. The English sensation has banged in 14 goals and grabbed two assists in 24 appearances for Bournemouth this season across all fronts.
The 26-year-old has led the line well and deserves some credit for averaging 3.4 shots, 0.7 key passes and 1.0 dribbles per game in Premier League football. He has even been accurate with his ball distribution after completing 77.1% of his attempted passes in the English first division (stats via whoscored). Frankly Solanke has been the main man for Bournemouth this season.
Should Tottenham Hotspur Boss Angelos Postecoglu Snap Solanke Up?
Solanke is proficient at finding a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal and can engineer a few promising chances for others around him on the offensive end of the field. He has proven his worth as a good finisher in front of the opponent’s goal. The English striker can even create the odd chance for his teammates up top. He is usually quite clever with his movements in and around the opposition penalty box.
We can expect Solanke to bring more firepower to Tottenham Hotspur head coach Angelos Postecoglu’s attack. He has what it takes to help Spurs challenge across all competitions in the coming seasons.
Solanke would also offer some competition for Heung-min Son and Richarlison at the North London club. Thus, it makes sense for Postecoglu to go all out to snap him up at the end of this campaign.
However, we don’t see how Bournemouth will ever sanction a transfer for Solanke this late in the window. It would take truly ridiculous money for this to be even a discussion, and when has Daniel Levy ever paid over the odds for anyone? File this transfer rumour under ”extremely dubious”.
