Beckham opted to seal a blockbuster move to Real Madrid in 2003 and enjoyed a successful four-year spell at the Madrid club. He had brief stints at LA Galaxy, AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain respectively before deciding to retire as a footballer.

David Beckham has played in three FIFA World Cup tournaments. He represented England in the 1998 FIFA World Cup which was held in France. The English talent could only manage to help his country reach the semifinal stage of the competition where the Three Lions lost to Argentina on penalties.
In 2002, Beckham managed to help England reach the quarterfinal phase of the World Cup. Four years later, the Three Lions bowed out at the same stage of the World Cup which proved to be Beckham’s last participation in the competition.
Beckham was involved in many controversies throughout his career and the 1998 World Cup saw the epitome of it when he received a straight red card for his tackle against Diego Simeone in the semi-final match. Argentina had the front seat after the incident and Beckham was hated around the country for the incident. He was booed wherever he went with Manchester United.
