In a recent report, journalist Pete O’Rourke revealed that Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite is on the radar of Manchester United. It has been claimed that the Red Devils are leading the race to sign the English talent from the Toffees in the summer.
Branthwaite’s Impressive Rise At Everton
Branthwaite has enjoyed a solid campaign at the Merseyside club and deserves credit for putting in a series of impressive displays at the heart of their defence. The 21-year-old has featured in 26 matches for Everton this season, scoring one goal in the process across various competitions.
The English sensation has been a rock at the back based on his average of 2.1 tackles, 1.8 interceptions and 4.5 clearances per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He has even distributed the ball relatively well after completing 78.7% of his attempted passes in the English top tier (stats via whoscored).
The talented defender is under contract at Goodison Park until the summer of 2027. Hence, Sean Dyche has no immediate need to cash in on him at the end of this campaign. However, Everton‘s recent financial struggles could see them sell Branthwaite if a big fee comes in for the player this summer.
Should Everton Boss Sean Dyche Cash In On Branthwaite?
Branthwaite is a solid tackler of the ball and can make some timely interceptions for his team inside his half. He doesn’t hesitate to clear the danger when at risk of being caught out at the back and is a good passer of the ball as well.
The English sensation can even use his strong 1.95m frame to win a few important aerial duels for his side. At the moment, Branthwaite is enjoying his football at Everton but might have his head turned if a top club such as Man United move in for him in the summer.
The Carlisle-born sensation is currently one of the first names in Sean Dyche’s teamsheet. However, as mentioned earlier, the Everton boss would be powerless to stop him from leaving if a big offer comes in for him later this year.
All in all, the Toffees should consider cashing in on Branthwaite if they receive a favourable bid for him at the end of this campaign.
