In a recent report, Sport mentioned that Barcelona are looking to cash in on Ansu Fati, who is currently playing on loan at Brighton and Hove Albion, next summer. It has been claimed that the Catalan club are hoping to part ways with the Spanish wide player when he returns from his loan spell at the end of this season.
Fati’s Uneventful Loan Spell At Brighton So Far
Fati has experienced a lackluster loan spell at the American Express Community Stadium as he has struggled to be consistent for the Seagulls up top. The Spanish winger has scored four times and earned one assist in 18 matches for Brighton this season across all competitions.
The 21-year-old has made most of his appearances off the bench which could be why he is only averaging 1.3 shots, 0.4 key passes and 0.2 dribbles per game in the Premier League. He has been tidy when distributing possession in the opponent’s half after completing 88.6% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
Fati’s loan spell at Brighton will end in the summer, so Barca boss Xavi will have to decide on his future when the youngster returns to the Nou Camp at the end of this campaign.
Should Barcelona Head Coach Xavi Let Fati Go?
Fati has got the pace to get the better of his marker out in the wide areas. He can create the odd chance for his teammates when he is playing with confidence on the pitch. However, the Spanish talent has to find a way to add more goals and assists to his game if he wants to prove his worth at the highest level.
At the moment, Fati is still quite raw and would need time to become a regular starter in top-flight football. Hence, it makes sense for Barcelona boss Xavi to let him go when he comes back from his loan spell at the end of this campaign.
At 21, Fati has the potential to become a future star in European football. However, for that to happen, he needs to ensure regular playing time in the coming seasons. Thus, the Catalan club should consider cutting him loose next summer.
