Arsenal have announced that Marquinhos will join Fluminense on loan. He is a young winger and is 20 years old. He might stay there indefinitely following the loan.
Marquinhos to join Fluminense on loan
Arsenal have announced Marquinhos will play for Fluminense. He’ll go back to Brazil on loan for a year, until January 2025. Fluminense paid Arsenal for the loan. They won against Corinthians to sign him. They can buy him permanently in the summer if certain things happen. Marquinhos was on loan in France with Nantes but came back to Arsenal last month because he didn’t play much.
Arsenal added a 50% sell-on clause in Marquinhos’ loan deal with Fluminense as per Fabrizio Romano. If Fluminense buys Marquinhos later, Arsenal gets half of the money from the sale.

Marquinhos went to Norwich in the Championship for part of the 2022/23 season. He scored one goal and assisted once in 11 games for Norwich. He first joined Arsenal from Sao Paulo for £3 million in the summer of 2022. He scored one goal and assisted once in six senior matches for Arsenal. He played those games between September 2022 and January 2023. His last game for Arsenal was in a 3-0 FA Cup third-round win against Oxford.
Marquinhos was playing for Brazil’s Under-23s team in the 2024 CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Tournament in Venezuela. Unfortunately, Brazil didn’t qualify for the Olympics in Paris this summer, which was surprising because they lost to Argentina and Paraguay. Marquinhos had interest from Corinthians, where Edu used to work. But he chose Fluminense to work with Fernando Diniz, a former Brazilian interim national coach. Arsenal will miss Marquinhos in their forward positions. Even so, they wanted to strengthen their attack this summer.
Arsenal believes in developing young players, even if it means letting them play for other teams. Marquinhos has a lot of talent, and if he does well at Fluminense, it could make his career much better again.
