Chelsea will lock horns with Aston Villa at Villa Park this Wednesday night as they look to secure a good result on the road in the FA Cup. The Blues suffered a disappointing 4-2 loss at the hands of Wolverhampton Wanderers recently, so they would be eager to put in a much-improved showing in midweek.
Mauricio Pochettino will set his men up in a 4-2-3-1 formation and is expected to make some tweaks to his first team for this game. Benoit Badiashile and Carney Chukwuemeka could get a chance to play from the start of this FA Cup contest at Villa Park.
4-2-3-1 Chelsea Predicted Lineup To Face Aston Villa
Defence
Dorde Petrovic will play in between the sticks for the Blues after he shipped in four goals in his last appearance. Benoit Badiashile is expected to get a start alongside Axel Disasi at the centre of the Chelsea backline as they look to keep things solid at the back throughout the 90 minutes.
Ben Chilwell will function as the left-back while Malo Gusto fills in on the other flank as the right-back. Both of them will have to pick and choose their moments to join in on the attack.
Thiago Silva will provide cover for the defensive positions on the bench as Pochettino looks to hand him a rest.
Midfield
Enzo Fernandez will play alongside Carney Chukwuemeka as they focus on making life tough for the opposition in the middle of the park. The gifted trio of Mykhailo Mudryk, Christopher Nkunku and Cole Palmer will operate just ahead of them as part of the London club’s attack. All three of them need to combine well if they want to create some decent chances for the Blues to win this clash.
Noni Madueke and Conor Gallagher will have to settle for a spot on the bench and might come on to make an impact in the second 45 minutes if needed.
Attack
Nicolas Jackson will lead the line for the West London giants up top. He would have to find a way to cause some problems for the Aston Villa defenders this Wednesday night.
