Newcastle United will entertain Manchester City at St. James’ Park this Saturday evening as they try to secure a good result at home in the Premier League. The Magpies managed to secure an impressive 3-0 win away at Sunderland in the FA Cup recently. Hence, we can expect them to be full of confidence ahead of this league showdown versus Pep Guardiola’s men.
Eddie Howe will opt for the 4-3-3 formation and could keep changes to a minimum for this game. Hence, we can once again expect Alexander Isak to lead the charge for the Tyneside club up top.
4-3-3 Newcastle United Predicted Lineup To Face Manchester City
Defence
Martin Dubravka will feature in between the sticks for the Magpies after securing a clean sheet in his last outing. Fabian Schar will function alongside Sven Botman at the heart of Howe’s defence as they focus on making life difficult for the Man City attackers during the 90 minutes.
Kieran Trippier will fill in as the right-back while Dan Burn hopes to put in a solid display on the other side as the left-back. Both of them will have to pick and choose their moments to join in on the attack.
Paul Dummett and Jamaal Lascelles will offer cover for the defensive positions on the bench.
Midfield
Joelinton is a major doubt for this game but could get the nod to start if he can recover in time from his thigh injury. The Brazilian talent will anchor the midfield along with Bruno Guimaraes and Sean Longstaff as they look to make life tough for the opposition at the centre of the park.
Matt Ritchie and Lewis Miley will be available for selection on the bench and might come on to make an impact in the second 45 minutes if required.
Attack
Anthony Gordon will try to catch the eye as the left-sided wide player while Miguel Almiron hopes to impress on the right flank. Alexander Isak will spearhead Newcastle’s attack up top. He has to find a way to cause some problems for the Man City defenders this weekend.
Lewis Hall will be named on the bench as he waits for his chance to influence the game in the final quarter if needed.
