Aston Villa will lock horns with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this Friday night as they look to earn a good result on their travels in the FA Cup. The Villans were held to a scoreless draw away at Everton recently, so they would be hungry to get back to winning ways against the West London club.
Unai Emery will set his side up in a 4-4-2 formation and is expected to keep changes to a minimum for this game. Hence, Ollie Watkins and Moussa Diaby will lead the charge for the West Midlands club in the final third.
4-4-2 Aston Villa Predicted Lineup To Face Chelsea
Defence
Emiliano Martinez will play in goal for the Villans after securing a clean sheet in his last outing. Diego Carlos will operate alongside Clement Lenglet at the heart of Aston Villa’s defence as they try to keep the Chelsea forwards frustrated throughout the 90 minutes.
Ezri Konsa will continue to play as the right-back while Alex Moreno tries to catch the eye as the left-back. Both of them would need to keep things solid at the back if the Villans are to stand a chance of securing a clean sheet this Friday night.
Matty Cash will offer cover for the right-back position on the bench.
Midfield
Douglas Luiz and Boubacar Kamara will anchor the midfield for the visitors as they try to give a good account of themselves at the centre of the park. John McGinn is expected to start on the left wing while Leon Bailey looks to put his pace to good use on the right flank.
Youri Tielemans and Nicolo Zaniolo have to settle for a spot on the bench as they look to make an impact in the second 45 minutes if needed.
Attack
As mentioned earlier, Ollie Watkins will lead the charge along with Moussa Diaby on the offensive end of the field. Both of them need to work together if they want to cause problems for the Chelsea defenders this Friday.
Jhon Duran has to be content with a place on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the final quarter if Aston Villa are in need of a goal by then.
