In a recent report, Calcio Salernitana stated that West Ham United have identified Salernitana forward Boulaye Dia as a target for this January transfer window. It has been revealed that the Hammers are eyeing a move to sign the Senegalese striker who is dreaming of a move to the Premier League.
Dia’s Decent Form In Serie A This Season
Dia has struggled to be consistent with his offensive contributions as the focal point of Salernitana’s attack. The 27-year-old has scored four goals in 14 matches for the Italian club this season across multiple competitions.
The France-born talent deserves a ton of credit for averaging 2.0 shots, 0.6 key passes and 1.1 dribbles per game in Serie A. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half based on his pass success rate of 83% in the Italian top flight (stats via whoscored).
Dia is under contract at the Italian club until the summer of 2026. Hence, West Ham would have to launch a sizable offer if they want to sign the Senegalese talent before the end of this month.
What Will Dia Add To West Ham United Boss David Moyes’ Side?
Dia is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and can create a few inviting chances for his teammates in the final third. He can even shoot the ball with power from long range but needs to find a way to be more clinical in front of the opponent’s goal. Dia is primarily a centre-forward but can also fill in as a right-sided wide player if asked to do so by his manager.
We can expect the Senegalese sensation to add more firepower to West Ham head coach David Moyes’ attack. He has what it takes to rival Michail Antonio for a regular starting spot at the London Stadium in the coming seasons. Thus, the Hammers should focus on getting a deal over the line to bring Dia to the English capital before the end of this January transfer window.
The Senegal international might even help West Ham clinch a European spot in the Premier League this season. At 27, he is about to enter his prime which makes him a decent option for the East London club to consider this winter.
