In a recent report, The Daily Record claimed that West Ham United are locked in a three-way battle for Celtic ace Cameron Carter-Vickers. It has been mentioned that the Hammers could face competition from Nottingham Forest and Brentford in the race to land the United States international.
Carter-Vickers’ Decent Form In Scottish Football This Season
Carter-Vickers is having a decent season at Celtic Park after putting in a string of solid displays on the defensive end of the field. The 26-year-old has participated in 17 matches for the Glaswegian outfit during this campaign, picking up one assist in the process across various competitions.
The former Tottenham Hotspur talent has been a decent performer at the back based on his average of 0.8 tackles, 0.6 interceptions and 3.0 clearances per 90 minutes in the Scottish Premiership. He has also been careful when distributing possession from inside his half as evidenced by his pass success rate of 92.1% in the Scottish first division (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Glaswegian club will run out in the summer of 2026, so West Ham would have to make a big offer if they want to convince Celtic to part ways with their prized asset this month.
Should West Ham United Boss David Moyes Go For Carter-Vickers?
Carter-Vickers is a tough-tackling defender who can sense the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t hesitate to put his foot through the ball when needed and excels at playing his way out from the back as well.
Hence, the United States international would be a good fit for West Ham‘s needs at the moment. He would add a lot of bite and steel to David Moyes’ defence and help the Hammers compete across all fronts over the next few years.
At 26, Carter-Vickers is about to enter the peak years of his playing career. Hence the East London club can expect to unlock the best out of the player if they can find a way to lure him to the London Stadium this winter or at the end of this campaign. He already knows the Premier League well and won’t take much time to adapt to life in the English capital.
