In a recent print edition, The Daily Mail (January 11th, page 69) claimed that West Ham United are eager to seal a move for Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Max Kilman. It is understood that David Moyes wants to lure the English defensive ace to the London Stadium this January.
Kilman’s Impressive Form In English Football This Season
Kilman has been a reliable performer at the Midlands club this season after putting in a run of solid performances for them on the defensive third of the pitch. The English sensation has scored one goal in 22 appearances for Wolves during this campaign across multiple competitions.
The 26-year-old has been a rock at the back and deserves credit for averaging 1.3 tackles, 1.0 interceptions and 4.6 clearances per game in the Premier League. He has even been accurate when distributing possession from inside his half after making 83% of his attempted passes in the English first division (stats via whoscored).
Kilman’s current deal at the Molineux Stadium will run out in the summer of 2028. Hence, West Ham would have to launch a big offer if they want to recruit him before the end of this month.
Is Kilman The Right Fit For West Ham United Boss David Moyes?
Kilman is a tough-tackling defender who can scan the danger well to make some timely interceptions for his side inside his half. He doesn’t hesitate to clear the danger when the opposition are on the front foot and can use his towering 1.94m frame to win his fair share of aerial duels. The English defender is even proficient at playing his way out from the back and can pose a threat from indirect set-pieces.
Kilman would add more bite and steel to West Ham‘s backline. He would undeniably increase competition for places within David Moyes’ match-day squad. The Wolves star has got the skillset to succeed in Moyes’ brand of football at the East London club. Hence, Kilman would be a good fit for West Ham’s needs at the moment as he could help them compete across all fronts in the coming seasons.
At 26, Kilman will enter his prime soon which makes him a worthy target for the Hammers to pursue before the end of this winter transfer window.
