In a recent interview with Give Me Sport, journalist Paul Brown revealed that West Ham United are keeping tabs on Chelsea striker Armando Broja. Brown said,
“West Ham certainly like Broja, they’ve scouted him extensively and enquired about him in the past. He’s in an interesting position because he hasn’t been able to play too much this season. Nkunku is now also coming back and Chelsea are still in the market for a striker so those two things don’t make things look good for Broja’s future. I think there are a lot of players vulnerable at Chelsea and who they’d listen to offers for, because they know they’re going to have to bring some money in having spent so much money on signings already.”
Broja’s Lack Of Game Time At Chelsea This Season
The 22-year-old has struggled to nail down a regular starting spot at Stamford Bridge this season. He has often found himself behind Nicolas Jackson in Mauricio Pochettino’s pecking order. Broja has participated in 14 matches for Chelsea during this campaign, scoring one goal and picking up one assist in the process across all fronts.
The Albanian attacker has made most of his appearances off the bench but has done well to average 0.9 shots and 0.8 key passes per 90 minutes in Premier League football. He has even been tidy with his ball distribution after completing 88.5% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
Should West Ham United Boss David Moyes Snap Broja Up?
Broja can create some space for himself to get some strikes in on-target. He can be a good finisher in the final third when he is playing regularly and with confidence on the pitch. The Albanian sensation can even create the odd chance for his teammates up top. However, he has found game time hard to come by which could open the door for West Ham to seal a move for him this winter.
Broja would bring more firepower to David Moyes’ front. He is good enough to offer some serious competition for Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio at the East London club. At 22, the future is quite bright for the Albania international.
All in all, the Hammers would be wise to go all out to snap him up before the end of this transfer window.
