In a recent report, Het Laatste Nieuws claimed that Tottenham Hotspur have been offered a chance to land KAA Gent forward Gift Orban. It has been stated that Spurs could be given a chance to sign the Nigerian striker on the cheap in this January transfer window.
Orban’s Impressive Form In Belgian Football
The 21-year-old is having a decent campaign at the Belgian club after putting in a run of productive displays as the focal point of their attack. Orban has banged in 12 goals in 29 matches for Gent this season across all fronts.
The Nigerian talent has been a decent performer in the final third as he is averaging 2.1 shots, 0.5 key passes and 0.8 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Jupiler Pro League. However, he has lacked quality when distributing possession in the opponent’s half based on his pass success rate of 70.5% in the Belgian first division (stats via whoscored).
His current deal at the Belgian club will run out in the summer of 2027. However, if Gent are willing to cash in on him this month, Spurs might have a chance to get a deal done for him on the cheap before the end of this transfer window.
Should Tottenham Hotspur Boss Angelos Postecoglu Snap Orban Up?
Orban is proficient at finding a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in on-target. He can be a decent finisher in front of goal when he is playing regularly and with confidence on the field. The Nigerian sensation can even create the odd chance for his teammates in the final third. However, he has to find a way to improve his ball distribution in the opponent’s half.
We can expect Orban to add more firepower to Tottenham boss Angelos Postecoglu’s attack as long as he can make a smooth transition to life in England. He is good enough to help the North London club challenge across all fronts in the coming seasons.
At 21, Orban has the potential to become a future star in English football. Thus, Spurs should consider snapping him up if he can get the striker for a fair price before the end of this winter transfer period.
