In a recent report, El Mira claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are in pole position to land Sevilla defender Loic Bade. It has been stated that Spurs are leading the race to bring the French central defender on board this January.
Bade’s Impressive Rise In Spanish Football
The 23-year-old is having a solid campaign at the Andalusian club after he put in a run of impressive performances at the centre of their backline. Bade has featured in 16 matches for Sevilla this season, picking up one assist on all fronts.
The French sensation has been a dominant presence inside his half as he is averaging 2.0 tackles, 1.5 interceptions and 4.3 clearances per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has even been accurate when distributing possession from the back based on his pass completion rate of 81.4% in league football (stats via whoscored).
Bade is under contract at Sevilla until the summer of 2027, so Spurs would have to make a convincing offer if they want to recruit the Frenchman in this January transfer period.
Is Bade A Good Option For Tottenham Hotspur Boss Angelos Postecoglu?
Bade is a tough-tackling defender who can scan the danger well to earn possession back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t hesitate to clear the danger when needed and can use his strong 1.91m frame to win some 50-50 aerial duels for his team. The French talent excels at playing his way out from the back.
We can expect Bade to bring more bite and steel to Tottenham Hotspur boss Angelos Postecoglu’s defensive department. He is good enough to fight for a regular starting spot at the North London club in the coming years.
At 23, Bade has his best years ahead of him which makes him a decent option for Spurs to pursue in the long run. However, there are some question marks over whether he can maintain his good form in the Premier League if Postecoglu can find a way to get a deal done for him this winter or at the end of this campaign.
Still, the pros outweigh the cons of recruiting a player of Bade’s skillset, so Tottenham should look to seal a move for him soon.
