Here are the latest Scottish Premiership transfer rumours of the day as on 23.1.2024.
Rangers want high fee for Ridvan Yilmaz
Rangers are asking £5.5 million for Ridvan Yilmaz as reported by journalist Kadir Cetincali.
Turkish club Galatasaray are interested in him. They’re discussing a possible transfer, and Yilmaz is the only player they want this month. Yilmaz joined Rangers in July 2022 but the player has had struggles settling in Scotland.
It seems apparent Philippe Clement wants a different left back and is considering replacing Yilmaz. The asking price of £5.5 million may be a bit too high for a player Rangers are looking to offload, but we will see.
Max Boruc leaves Hibs
Max Boruc has joined Arbroath on loan. He didn’t get to play much for Hibs this season because David Marshall is usually the goalkeeper in the Scottish Premiership. Boruc played only four times in different competitions.
The manager, Nick Montgomery, allowed him to go on loan to Arbroath so that he could play more in the Scottish Championship under Jim McIntyre.
Another goalkeeper, Riley Harbottle, also left the club this month and joined Colchester United.
Benjamin Siegrist could leave Celtic
Celtic are willing to agree to a deal for goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist before the transfer window ends. European clubs are interested, according to various sources.
Siegrist, who is 31 years old, is currently the third-choice goalkeeper at Celtic, with Joe Hart and Scott Bain ahead of him. Since joining Celtic from Dundee United in the summer of 2022, Siegrist has only played in two matches.
Abdallah Sima could extend his stay in the Scottish Premiership with Rangers
Abdallah Sima’s agent has suggested that the Rangers player might stay at Ibrox for a longer time because he really likes being part of the team. Sima faced a problem recently as he had to leave the African Cup of Nations due to a thigh injury, even though he didn’t get a chance to play for Senegal.
Sima has been an important player for Philippe Clement’s team, sharing the top spot as the league’s leading scorer with ten goals in the Scottish Premiership.
Celtic will have to pay £20 for Caoimhin Kelleher
Celtic are interested in getting Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, who is thinking about leaving Liverpool. The manager, Brendan Rodgers, is looking for a replacement for Joe Hart, who is 37 years old and will finish up his contract soon.
Rodgers sees the Republic of Ireland goalkeeper as the one to be Celtic’s main goalkeeper. However, Liverpool values Kelleher at £20 million, and it’s too much money for Celtic to afford in this transfer window, so they might not be able to get him this month.
