Here are the latest Scottish Premiership transfer rumours of the day as on 26.1.2024.
Mohamed Diomande joins Rangers
Mohamed Diomande has joined Rangers on loan, but he will sign permanently in the summer on a £4.5 million fee. The 22-year-old midfielder, who formerly played for FC Nordsjaelland in Denmark, has confirmed how delighted he is to join the Scottish Premiership side.
He attended the Right to Dream academy and occasionally commanded the team as captain. This is Philippe Clement’s second signing in January, as Fabio Silva joined on loan from Wolves until the end of the season.
Joe Hart to leave Celtic
Celtic plans to get a new main goalkeeper in the summer instead of Joe Hart, according to various sources. Hart’s contract ends this season, and the team is actively looking for a long-term replacement.
Brendan Rodgers wants a new goalkeeper but is okay with retaining Hart for the rest of the season. Yet, getting a new goalkeeper is the top goal for the club in the summer transfer window.
Jimmy Jeggo set to leave Hibs
Hibs are almost certain to agree to Jimmy Jeggo going back to Australia. The experienced ex-Socceroos midfielder is likely to be let go from his contract, which ends in the summer, so he can help out Melbourne City. Nick Montgomery added to his midfield this week by bringing in former QPR player Luke Amos. Both were substitutes in yesterday’s 3-0 home loss to Rangers, but Montgomery sees Amos as a starter in the future, while Jeggo will have to compete for playing time.
City boss Aurelio Vidmar really wants Jeggo after the sudden exit of Moroccan player Hamza Sakhi. Hibs sources say they’re willing to let Jeggo go home so he can play more regularly.
Celtic close to signing new deal with Rocco Vata
Rocco Vata, who was considering leaving Celtic, might actually stay and sign a new contract. He talked with other teams, but now Celtic are discussing a new deal with the 18-year-old, and there’s hope he’ll agree after making progress in the last two days.
Even though the club allowed him to leave this month, they are close to finalizing a new contract with Vata. In the summer, Celtic turned down many offers for him after he scored 11 goals in 22 games for the B team.
Jaden Brown joins St Mirren
Jaden Brown has joined St Mirren on loan from Lincoln City. The 25-year-old is likely to play in Stephen Robinson’s first team in their Scottish Premiership match against Rangers if he gets international clearance.
Brown went to Lincoln in the summer, but the new manager’s arrival has given Robinson the chance to bring him in. He started his career at Tottenham’s youth ranks but gained recognition during his time with Huddersfield Town and Sheffield Wednesday in the English Championship and League One.
