Scottish Premiership transfer rumours: Rangers set to sign Mohamed Diomande, Owen Beck still on Celtic’s radar and more

Here are the latest Scottish Premiership transfer rumours of the day as on 21.1.2024.

Mohamed Diomande close to Rangers

Rangers are about to sign their second player in January, this time a Nordsjaelland midfielder named Mohamed Diomande. He is from Ivory Coast and 22 years old.

He departed the training camp in America for his current team in Denmark, and he is now scheduled to have a medical with Rangers. Philippe Clement is looking for his own players, and Diomande will likely join Fabio Silva at Ibrox.

Diomande can play in a variety of midfield positions. Everything appears to be in place for Diomande to join Rangers, with sources (initially Danish) claiming the two sides reached an agreement overnight.

Owen Beck can still join Celtic

Celtic might try to permanently sign Owen Beck, but only if Jurgen Klopp doesn’t put him in the Liverpool team before the end of the month. Celtic showed they were interested in the left-back after he did well in the first part of the season while on loan at Dundee.

However, Liverpool said no and brought him back because they had problems with their defense. Beck hasn’t played for Liverpool yet. If he doesn’t play for them in the next few days, Celtic still has a chance to sign him.

But if he does play for Liverpool, then Celtic won’t be able to make another move because he would have already played for two teams this season.

Hearts set to sign Scott Fraser

Hearts have agreed a loan deal for Scott Fraser. Motherwell tried to get the Charlton Athletic player, but they couldn’t agree on the details.

Now, Hearts have come in and agreed on the terms for a loan until the end of the season. The 28-year-old is likely to get permission to travel to Gorgie to complete the move. Earlier this week, reports stated that Fraser wanted to come back to Scotland for family reasons.

Celtic wants Cameron Carter-Vickers to continue

Celtic are talking to Cameron Carter-Vickers about staying with the team by offering him a new contract. They want to keep him, and there are other Premier League clubs interested in him. Brendan Rodgers said they have started discussing a long-term deal with the American defender.

Teams like West Ham, Brentford, and Nottingham Forest are interested in signing him in this transfer window. However, Rodgers seem determined to build the team around Carter-Vickers, who came to Celtic from Tottenham Hotspur in 2022.

Matt O’Riley unlikely to leave Celtic

Brendan Rodgers says there’s no solid interest from other teams in Matt O’Riley, and O’Riley is content to stay at Celtic. The latest rumor linked him to Girona in La Liga, but it seems they are just scouting him, and there’s no definite move yet.

The manager doesn’t know of any teams wanting the midfielder. Girona are just one of many clubs mentioned; before, Premier League teams and Inter Milan in Italy were also named as possible destinations for the Danish player. However, the manager says O’Riley is happy where he is, and the club doesn’t need to sell him. Time will tell.
