Here are the latest Scottish Premiership transfer rumours of the day as on 18.1.2024.
Rangers after Tommy Conway
According to Football Insider‘s Pete O’Rourke, Rangers want to sign Tommy Conway from Bristol City. However, Celtic, Nottingham Forest, Brentford, and Wolverhampton Wanderers are also interested in signing him. Conway, 21, gained popularity after scoring the winning goal for Bristol in a recent FA Cup encounter against West Ham United.
He has 18 months remaining on his contract with Bristol City, so he may need to make a decision regarding his future shortly. Rangers believe that Conway’s Scottish roots may influence his decision, allowing them to sign him in the future.
Hibs interested in Myziane Maolida
Hibs are interested in signing Myziane Maolida, a winger from Hertha Berlin. Reports suggest that the Scottish Premiership side want to bring in the 24-year-old to play at Easter Road this month, and they might consider a move in the summer too. Another team, Hana Rostock, are also looking to sign Maolida.
He is from Comoros and plays for Hertha Berlin in Bundesliga 2, but he hasn’t played for them this season. Maolida’s contract with Hertha goes until 2025, but it’s said that Hertha might agree to a lower transfer fee because they don’t see him as part of their plans anymore. Maolida has played for Lyon and Nice before and also had a loan spell at Reims.
Hellas Verona after Celtic’s Gustaf Lagerbielke
Hellas Verona are interested in a loan deal for Celtic’s Gustaf Lagerbielke. The Swedish player has also been linked to Genoa and Leece. Now, Verona are showing interest in the 23-year-old as well.
Lagerbielke’s name has been mentioned in relation to several Serie A teams. He joined Celtic in January from Elfsborg but has had a hard time securing a regular spot in the central defense for Brendan Rodgers’ team.
Celtic not ready to pay £4m for Tiago Araujo
Celtic are interested in Tiago Araujo from Estoril, but they don’t want to pay the price Estoril are asking for. The Portuguese club wants £4 million for the left-back, but Celtic are not willing to pay that much, as per reports. Unless Estoril lowers their price by a lot, it looks like the 22-year-old won’t be joining Celtic in the January transfer window.
Ryan Astley close to Dundee
Dundee are close to signing Ryan Astley, a center-back from Everton. According to Sky Sports, the Scottish Premiership side are finalising negotiations for the 22-year-old to join Dens Park on a permanent transfer. Astley will be moving for free, and Everton have added a clause that allows them to get a share of any future transfer deal.
