Here are the latest Scottish Premiership transfer rumours of the day as on 25.1.2024.
Craig Halkett signs new contract with Hearts
Craig Halkett, a Hearts player, just signed a new contract to extend his stay with the Edinburgh club. The defender will remain at Tynecastle Park till 2026. Halkett was injured for a spell, but he’s currently back and working to regain full fitness.
Jimmy Jeggo could leave Hibs
Jimmy Jeggo might leave Hibs and go back to Australia. He’s not playing much, and the arrival of Luke Amos might make it even harder for him to make it to the first team.
There’s a chance he could sign with Melbourne City in Australia, as Hibs are okay with letting him go since there are only six months left on his contract.
Rangers after Anass Salah-Eddine
Rangers and an Italian team, Torino, are both interested in getting Dutch left back Anass Salah-Eddine. He’s 22 and currently plays for Ajax, but they might let him go on loan. Last season, he played for Twente Enschede while on loan. Rangers might need a left back, and they are considering Salah-Eddine.
Rangers manager, Philippe Clement, doesn’t want to let go of Ridvan Yilmaz or Borna Barisic without having someone else ready to take their place. Transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, mentioned that Rangers are one of the clubs interested in Salah-Eddine.
Vicente Besuijen leaves Aberdeen
Aberdeen player Vicente Besuijen has gone on loan to a team in the second division in the Netherlands called FC Emmen. He’s 22 years old and hasn’t played at all for Aberdeen this season under coach Barry Robson.
Many clubs interested in Matt O’Riley of Celtic
Celtic’s player Matt O’Riley might be in the middle of a competition between teams wanting to sign him in the last week of January. The Daily Mail says that not only Atletico Madrid but also several Premier League clubs in England are getting ready to make offers for the 23-year-old midfielder. Atletico Madrid already offered £20m on a loan to buy deal, but Celtic are expected to say no.
Other clubs are now planning to see if Celtic will change their mind. O’Riley has been doing decently for Celtic this season, scoring 10 goals and creating 12 assists in 29 games Celtic have him under contract until 2027, so they don’t have to sell him unless they get a big offer given the situation in the title race.
