Here are the latest Scottish Premiership transfer rumours of the day as on 28.1.2024.
Celtic after Sydney van Hooijdonk
Celtic are interested in signing Sydney van Hooijdonk, a 23-year-old striker from Bologna, before the transfer deadline. The Dutch player is looking to leave his current team because he hasn’t been playing much.
Some sources say he might join Celtic soon, but others say that the Scottish Premiership side are just keeping an eye on his situation. The manager, Brendan Rodgers, wants to get a new striker and left-back for the team before the transfer window closes.
Killian Phillips joins Aberdeen
Aberdeen have signed Crystal Palace’s young player, Killian Phillips, on loan until the end of the season. The 21-year-old has played 30 times for Wycombe in League One this season.
He did well on loan at Shrewsbury Town last season and even got the Young Player of the Season award. Now, he would be hoping to help Aberdeen improve and try to get to the third position in the league.
Jeong Ho-yeon not close to joining Celtic
Jeong Ho-yeon, a midfielder for Gwangju FC, has opened up about the rumours of moving to Celtic, but it seems like it might not happen. There were rumours before, but now, as the transfer window is about to close, it looks like there was never any communication between him and the Parkhead club.
He mentioned that although it would be a dream to try playing in another country, moving to Celtic might not be happening.
Jose Cifuentes to leave Rangers
Rangers have said yes to an offer from Turkish team Rizespor for Jose Cifuentes. The player from Ecuador hasn’t done so well since he came to Rangers in the summer from Los Angeles FC. It’s said that he might go on loan to Rizespor for the rest of the season, and they will have an option to buy him in the summer for about £2 million.
Rangers interested in Lawrence Shankland
Scouts from Rangers watched Lawrence Shankland, a player from Hearts, score his 19th goal in a game on Saturday, as per reports. Scouts came to see the 28-year-old Scottish player in action as they are definitely considering a move for him. But, the manager of Hearts, Steven Naismith, believes Shankland will continue with Hearts even after the transfer window closes.
We will have an answer to this sage soon enough.
