Here are the latest Scottish Premiership transfer rumours of the day as of 9.1.2024.
Gustaf Lagerbielke could leave Celtic
Celtic could sell or loan defender Gustaf Lagerbielke. Lecce, the Italian club, wants to take him on loan for six months and is unable to commit to keeping him after that. The Scottish champions are fine with this because Brendan Rodgers wants to downsize the squad.
Lagerbielke hasn’t featured much since signing from Elsborg for £3 million last summer. Despite scoring a critical goal against Feyenoord in the Champions League, he is not someone who looks to have a future at the club. In the January transfer window, Rodgers may possibly add a new defender.
Manchester United interested in Callan McKenna
Goalkeeper of Queen’s Park, Callan McKenna, might get a fantastic opportunity to join Manchester United. The 17-year-old has caught everyone’s attention for his good performances since the beginning of the season. Apparently, there are serious discussions between McKenna and Manchester United for a deal worth a lot of money, possibly more than £1 million in the end.
Yose Ideguchi leaves Celtic
Celtic have announced that Yose Ideguchi is leaving to join Vissel Kobe, the champions of the J-League. Ideguchi, who came from Gamba Osaka in January 2022, didn’t play much for Celtic, only six times. He was on loan to Avispa Fukuoka last season and was even nominated for the J-League Player of the Year.
Now, if reports are to be believed, Vissel Kobe are getting him permanently for a fee a bit higher than the £850,000 Celtic spent to bring him in 18 months ago.
Rangers goalkeeper Jay Hogarth joins Dumbarton
Rangers goalkeeper Jay Hogarth has agreed to join Dumbarton on loan until the season ends. The 20-year-old hasn’t played in a full game for Rangers yet and was with Alloa Athletic last season. Hogarth won’t be able to play in the upcoming Scottish Cup third round match between Dumbarton and the Scottish Premiership team though.
Borna Barisic could join Dinamo Zagreb from Rangers
Rangers left-back Borna Barisic might get an offer from Dinamo Zagreb in the summer as his time with Ibrox is ending. The 31-year-old came to the Scottish Premiership team from Osijek in August 2018 and has played in over 200 matches for them.
However, Barisic’s contract is ending soon, and he might leave Rangers for free at the end of the season. The left back can now talk to other clubs about his future. Some reports say that Roma and Aston Villa are interested, but Dinamo Zagreb seems to be making a move to bring Barisic back to his home country.
Sam Lammers Off On Loan
Sam Lammers seems to be off on loan. According to sources from the Netherlands, a loan deal for the player is close. There is also an option to buy the forward for £2.35m which if it happens will only represent a small loss on the player for Rangers.
