Here are the latest Scottish Premiership transfer rumours of the day as of 11.1.2024.
Rangers after South African player Tashreeq Matthews
Rangers are interested in Tashreeq Matthews, but they may have to battle with AZ Alkmaar for him. The South African winger, 23, plays for IK Sirius in Sweden. Last season, he has 11 goals and 10 assists while playing on the wing.
According to South African outlet Soccer Laduma, Rangers and AZ Alkmaar are both interested in him. Tashreeq Matthews began his football journey at Ajax Cape Town. As a young player, he was part of Borussia Dortmund’s youth team. He went on loan to teams in the Netherlands (Utrecht) and Sweden (Helsingborgs) while with Borussia Dortmund. In 2020, he joined Varbergs in Sweden and later moved to IK Sirius in 2022. Matthews has done well during his time at IK Sirius, catching the attention of Rangers apparently.
Nicolas Kuhn could join Celtic
Celtic might be getting their first new player in January. They’re trying to sign Nicolas Kuhn, a winger from Rapid Vienna. Celtic has been watching him for a few months, and now they’re talking to Rapid Vienna about bringing in the 24-year-old player who used to play for Germany’s youth team. But Rapid Vienna has gotten offers from other teams too, according to their sporting director Markus Katzer.
Will Michy Batshuayi join Rangers?
Michy Batshuayi is available for a short-term deal from Fenerbahce. Philippe Clement showed interest in the 30-year-old, hoping for a surprising transfer. However, as reported by The 4th Official on Patreon and then confirmed by Rangers, this is not happening.
Kris Moore joins Hibs
Leeds United defender Kris Moore has joined the Hibs team in Dubai for training, but Hibs hasn’t decided if they will sign him yet. The 20-year-old can play in the center or on the right side of defense. There were rumours last month about him moving to Easter Road, especially since Nick Montgomery is planning to strengthen the defense in January. However, reports says the six-month loan deal being confirmed are not true. The Scottish Premiership team needs a right back because of injuries to Chris Cadden and Lewis Miller being away at the Asian Cup with Australia.
Rangers after Max Willoughby
Rangers want to sign young player Max Willoughby from Motherwell. He’s a young defender who came up through Motherwell’s ranks, and the manager wants to keep him. Stuart Kettlewell, has already given chances to young players like Lennon Miller and Luca Ross this season. Motherwell hopes that showing a path to the first team will persuade Max Willoughby to stay with them.
