In a recent report, Fichajes claimed that Real Madrid remain big admirers of Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies. It has been stated that Los Blancos are showing interest in recruiting the Canada international but could face competition from Chelsea and Manchester City in pursuit of him.
Davies’ Solid Season In Germany
Davies has enjoyed a solid campaign at the Bavarian club after he put in a series of impressive displays on the left side of Thomas Tuchel’s defence. The Canadian full-back has made 26 appearances for Bayern this season, finding the back of the net once and picking up three assists in the process across all competitions.
The 23-year-old has been a good performer in both halves based on his average of 1.9 tackles, 1.1 interceptions, 1.4 clearances, 0.5 shots, 1.5 key passes and 2.6 dribbles per game in the Bundesliga. He has also been careful when distributing possession from the left-wing, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 89.3% in the German top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the German club will expire at the end of next season which could give Real Madrid an opportunity to sign him on the cheap next summer.
Should Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti Bring Davies On Board?
Davies is a good tackler of the ball and can scan the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t hesitate to clear his lines when the opposition are on the offensive and can also engineer a few decent chances for his teammates in the final third.
The Canadian talent can shoot the ball with venom from long range and is an energetic dribbler with the ball on the left flank. He would no doubt bring more quality to Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti’s defence if he can make a smooth transition to life in Spanish football. The gifted talent is primarily a left-back but also serve as a left-winger if needed.
At 23, Davies’ best years are ahead of him which makes him a worthy target for Los Blancos to pursue at the end of this campaign. He might even help the Madrid giants challenge for some major honours over the next decade. Hence, Ancelotti should focus on bringing Davies on board in the summer.
