In a recent report, Sport Bild claimed that Real Madrid are open to using Rafa Marin as a makeweight to recruit Bayern Munich ace, Alphonso Davies. It has been mentioned that Los Blancos are weighing up a move to bring the Canada international to the Spanish capital and are willing to send Marin in the other direction next summer.
Davies’ Impressive Run Of Form In Bundesliga
Davies is having another decent campaign at the Bavarian club after he put in a series of impressive displays on the left side of Bayern’s backline. The 23-year-old has featured in 25 matches for the German outfit this season, securing three assists in the process on all fronts.
The Canadian talent has caught the eye in both halves as he is averaging 1.9 tackles, 0.9 interceptions, 1.3 clearances, 1.6 key passes and 2.8 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball from the left flank based on his pass completion rate of 89.5% in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Bayern will expire in the summer of 2025. However, he remains an important player in the German club’s squad, so Carlo Ancelotti would have to make a good offer if he wants to sign Davies at the end of this campaign.
Real Madrid Are Open To Using Marin To Land Davies: Good Move For Everyone Involved?
Davies loves a tackle and can scan the danger well to earn possession back for his team inside his half. He usually clears the danger when the opposition are on the offensive and can make a few inviting chances for his teammates from the left flank. The Canada international remains an excellent dribbler with the ball out in the wide areas. He is good enough to secure a regular starting spot at Real Madrid in the coming seasons.
We can expect Davies to enhance the quality of Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti’s first XI. Plus, he could help Los Blancos challenge for some major honours over the next decade.
At 23, Davies will only get better with each season. Hence, it makes a lot of sense for Real Madrid to go all out to sign him this summer even if they have to give up Rafa Marin in the process.
Marin is currently having a solid loan spell at Deportivo Alaves and could be a decent player for a club like Bayern in the future. With all things considered, it will be a good move for everyone involved if the Madrid outfit decide to use Marin to sign Davies.
