Ian Wright, a former Arsenal player and legend, lauded Bukayo Saka after he upset Nottingham Forest fans. Saka scored the winning goal as Arsenal defeated Nottingham Forest 2-1 at the City Ground on Tuesday evening.
Ian Wright praises Bukayo Saka
Ian Wright was happy about Bukayo Saka scoring against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday (January 30) despite facing boos from the other team’s fans. Arsenal won 2-1 at the City Ground in the Premier League on Tuesday. In the first half, Arsenal missed several chances to score. However, Nottingham’s defense made a mistake, letting Gabriel Jesus score in the 65th minute. Saka then scored the second goal for Arsenal in the 72nd minute after another mistake by Nottingham. The hosts managed to score a goal in the 89th minute through Taiwo Awoniyi, but it was just a consolation.
Nottingham fans started booing Saka in the second half. This happened because the referee, Simon Hooper, paused the game when Saka was injured and Nottingham had the ball. But earlier, when Montiel was hurt in the first part and Arsenal had the ball, the referee didn’t stop the game. Still, after the match, Wright talked about Saka’s goal and the fans booing him.
“I was quite pleased with this [Saka’s goal] because for some reason Forest fans were booing him. So I was quite pleased. Poor play from Forest again. Between the goalkeeper [Matt Turner] and some of the mistakes they make, they kind of hand it to teams,” Wright said via Metro.
