Arsenal performed really well against Crystal Palace, winning 5-0. Gabriel scored the opening goal with a header and then the Palace goalkeeper scored an own goal. Leandro Trossard scored the third goal, and Martinelli, who came on as a sub, scored twice in extra time. This victory puts Arsenal in a solid position in the Premier League, tied with Manchester City and Aston Villa and only two points behind Liverpool, who leads.
Mikel Arteta on Leandro Trossard
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was happy to talk about Leandro Trossard after they won against Crystal Palace. Trossard scored the best goal among the five, and it happened after a great team play that included the goalkeeper David Raya and Gabriel Jesus.
“When you have opportunities to run at teams who want to sit a bit low, it’s a great way to do it. David’s reading the space, Gabby’s action as well, the timing of the run was perfect, and Leo, he did what he does best, which is have composure with the ball inside the box to make the right decision,” Arteta said.
“I’m really happy with him, he’s such an intelligent footballer. The way he demands himself, the way he pushes others, and the quality that he has to play, in three or four different positions. It’s a joy to have a player like him,” he added.
Arteta also talked about the team performance.
“The reality is we worked set-pieces less in the last week than all other aspects of the game. This is the beauty of it, we worked on a lot of things that happened and we trained them a lot. Absolutely [I want more goals from defenders] and [Gabriel’s] got the ability and timing. Deliveries have been consistent and good as well, there are others like [William Saliba] that have the capacity to score more goals. We don’t have a 30, 40 goals on someone, we have to share them and that’s a good quality in the team,” he said.
