Mikel Arteta claims Arsenal will not sign a new striker this window. Arsenal wanted a better chance of winning, so they considered signing a new center forward. Reports mentioned Ivan Toney from Brentford as a possibility. Bukayo Saka is now the team’s top scorer, with only six goals in the Premier League.
Mikel Arteta on signing a forward
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has said again that the team won’t get a new striker in January. Arsenal are not doing well in the title race because they need someone who can score goals effectively.
The strikers Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah together only scored eight goals in the league this season. Manchester City and Liverpool, who are also competing for the title, each have three players who scored more than eight goals individually. This shows that Arsenal really needs better goal-scoring ability. But, Arteta says they won’t be getting a new center-forward this month, even though there were rumors about Ivan Toney and Victor Osimhen. Ivan Toney from Brentford is back playing after an eight-month ban from football.
“No. But the first thing that’s because I love the players that we have,” Arteta said when asked about signing a new striker.

Arsenal lost three games in a row and only won once in seven games. Now, they are in fourth place in the Premier League. However, Arteta believes his team can still achieve important things this season.
“We need to get the crowd going but they’ve been exceptional with us. We are recharged, super motivated. We want to attack the second half of the season, we have a lot of ambitions and understand that the team is capable of big things. We feel fully recharged. [The break] gave us the opportunity to look at things with perspective. We take positives from the first six months despite recent results. You have to look at it objectively so that you can dissect the game and understand what happened. There are things that we can improve and do better. Those marginal gains have to be installed and that is what we have been doing over the last few days,” Arteta added.
