Tottenham Hotspur will welcome Manchester City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this Friday night as they look to pick up a positive result at home in the FA Cup. Spurs managed to earn a solid 2-2 draw away at Manchester United recently, so they would be eager to get back to winning ways this weekend.
Angelos Postecoglu will set his men up in a 4-2-3-1 formation once again and is expected to name a strong first team for this cup clash. James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski could both return and play from the start of this game.
4-2-3-1 Tottenham Hotspur Predicted Lineup To Face Manchester City
Defence
Guglielmo Vicario will operate in between the sticks for the London club after conceding a couple of goals in his last outing. Cristian Romero will function alongside Micky van de Ven at the centre of Tottenham’s backline as they look to keep things solid on the defensive end of the field.
Pedro Porro will fill in as the right-back while Destiny Udogie hopes to catch the eye on the other flank as the left-back. Both of them will have to perform their defensive duties well if they want to restrict the opposition from causing problems from the wide areas.
Radu Dragusin will be named on the bench as he offers cover for the defensive positions.
Midfield
Rodrigo Bentancur and Oliver Skipp will operate in the defensive midfield positions. Their main focus would be to make life difficult for Man City at the centre of the park. The trio of Timo Werner, James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski will play just ahead of them as part of Postecoglu’s attack. All three of them need to be at the top of their game if they want to pose a threat during the game.
Brennan Johnson and Emerson Royal will be available for selection on the bench and might come on to make an impact in the latter stages if needed.
Attack
Richarlison will spearhead Tottenham’s attack on his own up top. The Brazilian talent has to find a way to get his name on the scoresheet in the absence of Heung-min Son who is currently unavailable due to his involvement in the AFC Asia Cup.
