In a recent report, Liverpool Echo revealed that Everton are working on a loan deal for Manchester United youngster Hannibal Mejbri. It has been claimed that the Toffees are eyeing a loan move to sign the Tunisian talent but could face competition from Sevilla in pursuit of him.
Hannibal’s Lack Of Game Time In The Premier League
Hannibal has struggled to earn regular playing opportunities at Old Trafford during this campaign as he has often found himself behind Bruno Fernandes and Scott McTominay in Erik ten Hag’s pecking order. The 20-year-old has scored one goal in 11 matches for Man United this season in various competitions.
The Tunisia international has seen most of his playing time come off the bench which could be why he is only averaging 0.2 shots, 0.4 key passes and 0.4 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He has been accurate when distributing possession in the opponent’s half based on his pass completion rate of 83.8% in the English first division (stats via whoscored).
Hannibal’s current deal at the Mancunian club will expire in 2025. Thus, it makes sense for Everton to try and sign him on loan this month and explore the possibility of recruiting him permanently on a cut-price deal next summer.
Everton Are Working On A Deal To Sign Hannibal: Good Move For Everyone Invovled?
Hannibal can create some space for himself to get a few strikes in on-target. He has got the vision to engineer a few clear-cut chances in the final third and is a good dribbler with the ball when he is playing regularly and with confidence on the field.
The Tunisian talent is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also play as a box-to-box midfielder or as a right-sided wide player if told to do so. We can expect Hannibal to enhance the quality of Everton head coach Sean Dyche’s frontline.
The Man United youngster is good enough to fight for a regular starting spot at Goodison Park in the second half of this campaign. Thus, Hannibal’s potential loan move to Everton could be good for everyone involved.
The Toffees can definitely benefit from signing someone of his skillset on loan as he will help them fight for a top-half finish in the Premier League this season.
