Manchester City will entertain Burnley at the Etihad Stadium this Wednesday night as they look to secure all three points at home in the Premier League. Pep Guardiola‘s men managed to secure an impressive 1-0 win away at Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup recently which would give them a lot of confidence ahead of this game.
Guardiola will opt for the 4-2-3-1 formation and could make a few tweaks to his first XI for this game. Ederson and Jeremy Doku are both expected to play from the start of this game at the Etihad.
4-2-3-1 Manchester City Predicted Lineup To Face Burnley
Defence
Ederson will play in goal for Man City after being rested in the FA Cup win versus Spurs. Nathan Ake will function alongside Ruben Dias at the heart of Guardiola’s defence as they hope to keep a clean sheet at home this Wednesday night.
Kyle Walker will continue to operate as the right-back while Josko Gvardiol looks to put in a solid display on the other side as the left-back. Both of them will get the freedom to express themselves in the opponent’s half.
John Stones will provide cover for the defensive positions on the bench.
Midfield
Mateo Kovacic and Rodri will play as Guardiola’s holding midfielders as they try to establish their dominance over the opposition at the centre of the park. The talented trio of Jeremy Doku, Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva will operate just ahead of them as part of Man City’s attack. All three of them need to clinical in front of the opponent’s goal if Man City want to secure a convincing win in midweek.
Jack Grealish, Kevin de Bruyne and Oscar Bobb will be named on the bench and might come on in the second 45 minutes if required.
Attack
Julian Alvarez will lead the line for the Mancunian giants in the attacking end of the field. He would be Guardiola’s best hope for a goal this Wednesday.
Erling Haaland is a slight concern ahead of this game.
