Chelsea will face off against Liverpool at Anfield this Wednesday night as they look to grind out a result on their travels in the Premier League. The Blues were held to a scoreless draw by Aston Villa in the FA Cup recently, so they would be eager to return to winning ways in midweek.
Mauricio Pochettino will set his team up in a 4-2-3-1 formation and is expected to make a few changes to his first XI for this clash. Both Levi Colwill and Ben Chilwell should get a chance to play from the start of this game at Merseyside.
4-2-3-1 Chelsea Predicted Lineup To Face Liverpool
Defence
Dorde Petrovic will feature in between the sticks for Chelsea after keeping a clean sheet in his last domestic outing. Thiago Silva will play alongside Levi Colwill at the centre of Pochettino’s defence as they try to keep the opposition at bay during the 90 minutes.
Axel Disasi will try to catch the eye as the right-back while Ben Chilwell hopes to put in a good showing on the other flank as the left-back. Both of them will have to perform their defensive duties well if the Blues are to secure a clean sheet at Anfield this week.
Benoit Badiashile will offer cover for the defensive positions on the bench.
Midfield
Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo will anchor the midfield for Chelsea as they look to win the 50-50 duels at the centre of the park. The gifted trio of Raheem Sterling, Conor Gallagher and Cole Palmer will function just ahead of them as part of the West London club’s attack. All three of them need to combine well if they are to cause problems for the Liverpool defenders in this midweek game.
Mykhailo Mudryk will have to settle for a spot on the bench as he waits for his chance to make an impact in the second half if needed.
Attack
Amando Broja will lead the charge for the Blues on his own up top. He has to work hard in running in behind the Liverpool backline at every chance he gets.
Christopher Nkunku is a major doubt for this clash. However, Pochettino should name him as a substitute if he can pass a late fitness test.
