Xavi will opt for the 4-3-3 formation and could make one change to his first team for this contest on the road. Andreas Christensen will get a chance to impress from the start of this cup game.
4-3-3 Barcelona Predicted Lineup To Face Athletic Bilbao
Defence
Inaki Pena will feature in between the sticks for the Catalan club after shipping in a couple of goals in his last league outing. Ronald Araujo will function alongside Andreas Christensen at the centre of the Barca backline as they focus on keeping things solid on the defensive third of the pitch.
Jules Kounde will get a chance to prove his worth as the right-back while Alejandro Balde looks to impress on the other flank as the left-back. Both of them will have to pick and choose their moments to join in on the attack.
Sergi Roberto will offer cover for the right-back position on the bench.
Midfield
Xavi could choose to go with a midfield three of Ilkay Gundogan, Frenkie de Jong and Pedri after the trio produced a dominant display collectively against Real Betis recently. All three of them would have to pass the ball well so that they can engineer some decent chances in the final third.
Oriol Romeu has to settle for a place on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the latter stages if required.
Attack
Ferran Torres will try to give a good account of himself on the left flank while Lamine Yamal tries to catch the eye on the right wing. Robert Lewandowski will lead the charge for the Catalan club down the middle.
Vitor Roque and Joao Felix will be available for selection on the bench and might come on to make an impact in the final quarter of the game if Barca are in need of a goal by then.
